Job Description
Desktop Support Analyst
The Desktop Support Analyst is responsible for providing assistance for the company’s corporate IT systems.
The specific responsibilities include the support of the company’s desktop infrastructure including hardware, operating system, networking, backup infrastructure, application-support, VoIP support, hosted email support and hosted audio/video conferencing support for corporate and remote users, hosted
Duties & Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve problems with desktop systems (Win7), printers and other standard office equipment.
Perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries.
Ensures that the service desk environment is running smoothly, with timely response to every customer
Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
Provide individual training and support on request
Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
Research current and potential resources and services and make purchase recommendations
Provide network access to all staff
Install work stations to include all hardware and software set ups as well as network accounts and passwords
Monitor security of all technology
Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status
Identify and prepare hardware for disposal and properly strip and secure in that process
Required
Demonstrated, thorough knowledge of key desktop support best practices
Knowledge of Microsoft systems and services such as DNS, DHCP, AD
Experience managing a Windows 7 desktop environment (PC and printer support)
Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008
Interest in or experience working for high growth software company
Ability to multi-task and manage time with little supervision
Experience troubleshooting hardware and software
Experience in Virtualization technologies such as VMWare and Citrix Xenapp
Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 1-2 years experience in Desktop Support
At least 1-2 years experience with Hardware & networking
Some Linux experience a plus
Virtualization experience a plus
