Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

Oversee the recording of all underlying data in the general ledger including premium and loss reporting, fixed assets, investments and expenses.

Ensure account reconciliations are completed and reconciling items resolved in a timely and accurate manner.

Ensure the timely reporting of quarterly and year-end financial statements in accordance with statutory accounting principles.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of management and the accounting and finance team.

Supervise team in accordance with the organization's policies; assist with the development of team skills to encourage and motivate performance and professional growth.

Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Assist with compliance reporting, including audits, Sarbanes-Oxley and state regulations.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.

At least 2 years supervisory experience.

Minimum five years prior experience in insurance statutory accounting including preparation of the Annual Statement.

Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Strong verbal and written communication, organization, analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills.
