Job Description
Our Client is a Billion Dollar start-up unicorn that focuses on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions. Since established in 2007 they have grown to about 600 employees with 7 offices around the world with a goal to provide the best possible services at under market prices.
They are currently seeking a Senior Linux Engineer, to join their rapidly growing team based out of Norwalk. The Senior Linux Engineer will be responsible for scaling out the current environment to support the growth of the company.
Primary Responsibilities for Senior Linux Engineer:
Participate in and lead internal infrastructure expansion / enhancement projects of varying size and scope
Create, automate, provision, and deploy Linux-based operating systems / applications rapidly and at a very large scale
Ensure system stability, scalability, security and performance
Create and maintain documentation surrounding our infrastructure
Think out of the box and solve complex scaling challenges
Desired Skills & Experience for Senior Linux Engineer:
Must have solid configuration management skills, Puppet preferred, but Ansible / Chef / Salt acceptable
5+ Years experience with Linux administration in large (100's-1000's) server environments, Ubuntu preferred
Experience with Linux firewalls (IPTables) and general Linux networking
Experience with scripting and system automation (Bash, Python, Perl, Awk, etc) Bachelor
degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent IT work experience
Experience supporting BIND/PowerDNS, Apache/NGINX, load balancers
Solid virtualization experience, KVM preferred
Experience with ZFS, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Openstack a plus
General Qualifications for Senior Linux Engineer:
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills—documentation skills mandatory
Good diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, root-cause analysis and resolution skills
Strong work ethic
Ability to quickly acquire new skills and thrive in a team-based environment
Ability to leave attitude at the door, be receptive to new ideas, and be able to switch projects at the drop of a hat
Professional and courteous attitude
Ability to effectively manage time and push multiple projects at once
Performs other related duties as assigned
Limited travel may be required
Off hours support required
