Software Applications Engineer - Java

6 Mth. Contract to Hire

Boulder, CO

Software Engineer - Java Applications will design, develop and maintain standards for all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. Located in Boulder, CO, the organization focuses on research and understanding of climate-change, land-use and impact of invasive species on ecology.

The organization is the first of its kind, designed specifically to detect and enable forecasting of ecological change on a continental scale.

Job Functions:

- Design/Develop/Maintain standards for capture and documentation of requirements

- Develop acceptable testing practices

- Deploy production support procedures

- Work directly with cyber infrastructure team, developing and maintaining Java REST data service layer

- Coordinate, communicate and collaborate with the cyber infrastructure team

Required:

- 3+ yrs. of Java programming or equivalent experience in another object-oriented language (must be willing to learn Java)

- Experience with SQL (Oracle, or other large-scale database)

- Linux or Unix familiarity

- Web application server environments familiarity (Wildfly, Tomcat or similar)

- Hibernate or similar ORM tool familiarity

- XML familiarity

- BA in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar field (equivalent experience or education may be considered)

Preferred:

- Eclipse, Maven or other Java development tools experience

- REST implementations

- JUnit testing or similar frameworks

- Experience with JAXB, JAX-RS or other Java libraries

- EJBS and transaction management experience
