GENERAL SUMMARY: The Systems Administrator is responsible for developing and implementing technologies.
The environments include Microsoft Windows, Linux, and VMware.
The Systems Administrator keeps abreast of technology trends and information and recommends appropriate hardware and software upgrades.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Systems Administrator's responsibilities include:
Answering technical inquiries and assisting users within established service level agreements
Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues
Troubleshooting any reported problems
Installing and configuring new hardware and software
Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
Performing backups
Performing routine audits of systems and software
Monitoring and tuning system performance
Participating in special projects
Documenting technical environment and system configuration
Creating, updating, or deleting user accounts
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
Meeting service level agreements for user requests and system uptime goals.
Completing assigned tasks and projects successfully in a timely manner.
Attaining high levels of customer satisfactory.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field required.
A minimum of three years of systems administration experience required.
Experience with Windows server operating systems 2008/2012, Active Directory, WSUS,
Windows Print servers, SAN/NAS, VMWare, and Symantec Anti-Virus.
Experience writing VB and PowerShell scripts.
Experience managing networked servers with knowledge of CISCO switches and firewalls,
network services including DHCP and DNS, system utilities, hardware installation, and
operating/application system installation required.
Experience in a multi-platform network environment including Exchange 2010/2015 mail
service and client support, backup and restore technologies (Tivoli and Veeam), Macintosh and PC communication software support, and various graphical user interfaces required.
Expertise with system administration issues in a large and complex client server environment required.
Knowledge of backup technology, and monitoring and other automated systems management technologies required.
Outstanding deductive and investigative skills to identify and diagnose complex, non-intuitive technical problems required.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.
Ability to work well with others and in a team environment required.
Ability to work independently and on own initiative required.
Ability to quickly learn new procedures, techniques, and approaches required.
Integrity and credibility to work with sensitive data required.
