Job Description

ETL Developer

Seeking an experienced SQL Server ETL Developer to fill the growing needs of the Database
Development and Administration Team within an established financial services organization.

This team supports the data needs of the BI/Reporting Team and the Applications Development Team by sourcing data from internal and external sources, integrating data into the staging layer of the data warehouse and making the data available for reporting and applications.

The team also provides database administration services and implements and supports development and database lifecycle management processes.

As the ETL Developer your role will be highly visible and you will be working with the CIO, VPs, administrators as well as Business Analysts. Excellent communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities

Design staging tables to accommodate new sources of data

Construct SSIS packages to populate staging tables from external sources

Design other database schema as needed

Stored procedure development

Perform performance tuning of queries and stored procedures

Support existing ETL processes and troubleshoot as needed

Extend existing tables and ETL to add data points from existing feeds

Help design and build data quality monitoring components within existing and new ETL

Participate in preparation of regular database/ETL/SSRS deployments to Test and Production environments

Serve as auxiliary database administrator as needed for SQL Server installation, configuration, patching, upgrading, and monitoring

Communicate with business analysts, end users and business stakeholders as needed to clarify requirements

Update work progress in TFS daily and ensure code and objects are routinely checked into source control

Participate in daily standup meetings

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience

7+ years of SQL development experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2005 to current)

Experience working with mid-size to large databases (350+ tables, 400GB+)

2+ years of experience working with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

Exposure to/experience working with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

SQL Server database administration experience with one or more of the following would be a big plus: backups/restores, capacity planning, query and system optimization, monitoring, job configuration, deploying database changes and SSIS/SSRS objects from DEV to TEST to PROD, source control of database objects, Team Foundation Server

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver results

Must have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Strong ability to communicate, collaborate and work effectively with individuals at all levels

Attention to detail, thorough, problem solving, organized, creativity and a positive 'can do' attitude are a must
