Job Description
Reporting to the VP Information Technology, the Director of Infrastructure and Information Security will have primary responsibility for the strategic direction and operational management of all internal and external IT Infrastructure operations, including short and long-term strategies, day to day operations, production change control, technical project management, vendor management and the implementation of service delivery improvement initiatives.
The Director of Infrastructure and Information Security will be responsible for developing and leading a high performing team while partnering with key stakeholders in both the business and technology functions across the company, directly managing a team responsible for systems, storage, telecommunications, information risk management, database management, new technology implementation, capacity planning, disaster recovery, authentication services, backups, documentation, server based application support and troubleshooting.
Essential Responsibilities:
Resource and Performance Management: Allocate resources, supervise team operations and identify areas for improvement; evaluate individual performance and create individual plans to coach, mentor, motivate and develop a high performing team, influencing positive action for their assigned work.
Run-the-Business and Project Delivery Management: Measure, monitor and manage overall quality delivery by teams in support of projects and run-the-business operations; implement best practices to optimize performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement; liaison with IS Leadership and serves as a point of escalation to managers and staff when issues arise.
Budget Planning and Management: Plan and drive departmental capital and operational budget in accordance with IT strategic plans and run-the-business needs
Build and implement a strategy for information security and risk management to include an information security policy, technical roadmap, operational process and metrics and end user education.
Maintain Business Relationships: Create and foster long-term relationships with internal and external partners to identify and quantify business issues associated with specific projects/or operations, and sets/implements strategic technical direction in support of business requirements. Effectively manage service level agreements, increasing value and speed of delivery while optimizing cost. Partner with vendors to plan, design and build technologies related to the direction of the technology evolution.
Set Standards for Technology and Process: Lead the gathering of requirements and design of enterprise technical and process standards; work with Leadership to finalize standards to ensure long-term sustainability, strategic alignment, and cost effectiveness of proposed enterprise and departmental standards.
Develop a comprehensive platform strategy and plan to make, buy, integrate or acquire new technology to maximize the value of the technology portfolio. Maintain and apply current knowledge of technology, keep abreast of new and emerging technologies and determine if they can be used to apply cost-effective information and value to the business.
Manage the release management, change control and incident management for data centers
and associated regional extensions. Enable and deliver a disciplined process for migration of changes into our global environment and supporting remediation with problem and incident management.
Drive best practices and process improvement across the function. Identify opportunities to increase data center utilization and create opportunities for consolidation and simplification by leveraging synergies between resources. Drive a total cost of ownership mindset in operations and establish end-to-end processes to drive down cycle time and improve efficiency.
Innovation and managing the business of IT: Define and outline innovation opportunities and initiatives around disaster recovery, virtualization, cloud computing, data center convergence, new facilities rationalization/build out, and service management. Analyze the overall operation spend to appropriately forecast and plan for future infrastructure investments in collaboration with senior IT leadership ensuring overall value creation and strategy execution in support of the business.
Education Experience:
Strong technical foundation to include an undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field.
An MBA or advanced technical degree is strongly preferred.
The successful candidate should have at minimum 8 years of information technology experience in roles of increasing complexity.
Infrastructure and operations depth is required as is an understanding of the technology behind the effective delivery of data center services and how to support a shared service model.
The successful candidate must be a hands-on technical leader with familiarity in operations across a wide variety of technology platforms including but not limited to Networks (WAN, LAN, Wireless, etc.), IPT, Mobility, DR/BCP best practices) strong "end to end" understanding of data center operations, Enterprise Storage, Capacity planning, Virtualization, Active Directory, Exchange email, VOIP, DNS, etc.
Knowledge in technical and organizational aspects of information security technology and process including perimeter protection, security alert management and incident response, proactive vulnerability management, and endpoint protection.
Proven project management skills. The successful candidate must be comfortable understanding technical requirements, independently set priorities and execute in a dynamic environment, explaining solutions guidelines and driving teams towards delivery dates.
This leader will have good customer facing skills, the capability to break down barriers and the agility to move throughout an organization at all levels to serve the business.
Knowledge of ITIL V3.0 framework driving a service management oriented approach to IT is required.
A track record of utilizing this methodology to develop a current state assessment and roadmap for the future state operational environment is expected.
Strong process and best practice methodology and portfolio management skills are required.
Ensuring consistent delivery of projects and programs on time and within budget and scope parameters while meeting the business expectations and ongoing service/support metrics is expected.
Experience with Six Sigma, ITIL or other similar process methodologies are preferred.
Business Experience
Midsized company experience ideally gained in a fast paced, evolving environment is highly desired.
An understanding of the multi-channel, diversified consumer goods company would be ideal and would assist the successful candidate in establishing solid credibility with the business.
Recognizing the complexity of the business, this leader will ideally have the experience in a consumer products or industrial company setting. Proven operational experience supporting a multi-channel, complex supply chain environment would be additive.
A proven track record of leading significant change and transformation is required. The successful candidate must be an expert in building capabilities, driving change readiness, utilizing best practices and driving metrics and discipline on complex IT initiatives.
A history of leading teams through transformational challenges is critical.
Foundational experience gained in a well-managed, process oriented, and financial metric driven company is preferred.
An ability to apply best-in-class methodologies is crucial as is an understanding of how to drive value through the adoption of new service delivery models.
