Market Data Developer

Financial Services Client

Downtown NYC

$170K-$180K base + bonus

We are looking for a Market Data Developer with strong J2SE Java skills on Unix/ Linux. T

This Developer will be working in a small group in core technology including Market Data, Symbology and Standing Reference Data systems therefore some familiarity with such systems is preferred.

Familiarity with messaging middleware and sockets programming is also preferred.

They'll be working very closely with other Developers so good communication skills are definitely a must.

The person needs to be able to deliver in a tough environment and not just a highly controlled process driven one.

The Developer is responsible for all phases of the project life-cycle activities, from initial analysis through production support including design, implementation, testing, integration, training and maintenance.

Responsibilities will include:

Assist technical & product managers in the evaluation of product requirements for software applications

Develop detailed technical specifications

Provide accurate and reliable estimates for project tasks

Application and framework design, development, customization and integration of work

Design, code and unit test the applications and frameworks

Maintain/modify existing software applications with periodic releases, as needed

Create test plans and test tools; support testing and address on-line bug reports/issues

Document applications for technical white papers, user guides and operations guide

Be available to team members for technical design discussions.

Technical Requirements:

Strong server side Java J2SE skills.

Experience with high-throughput reliable low-latency messaging systems, either as a user or (preferably) as an author.

Experience with socket (TCP and UDP) programming.

Experience developing and supporting market data systems for one or more of the
following, Equities, Options, Futures and FX.

Very comfortable with GNU/Linux, its commands and basic configuration files, and at least one scripting language.

Plus:

Business knowledge of equity and fixed income securities.
