Job Description

Our Client is an established cloud-to-cloud data protection unicorn headquarter in Norwalk CT with offices in Boston, Rochester, Albany, and Portland.

Since established in 2007 they have grown to about 1200 employees with 10 offices around the world with a goal to provide the best possible services at under market prices.

They are currently seeking a senior Java developer with 5-10+ years’ experience to develop, design, and implement a next generation monitoring and alerting platform using open source technology.

This position will be able to sit in their Boston, Norwalk, or Rochester office.

Responsibilities for Senior Java Developer:

Develop the next generation monitoring and alerting platform at Datto

Architect, implement, and maintain Java code to ingest, store, and display metrics

Work with Datto engineers to provide a robust monitoring and alerting platform

Design and champion best practices within the organization

Solve complex and challenging problems with simple, maintainable, and scalable solutions

Utilize Open Source solutions where appropriate to stand on the shoulders of giants

Experience for Senior Java Developer:

5+ years of experience as a Java Developer developing and maintaining an application

5+ years of experience with Linux

Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Redis, and Elasticsearch

Experience with scripting and systems automation (bash, python, etc.)

Proficiency with git and ideally experience with collaborative use of GitHub or GitLab

The ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Strong verbal and written communication skills documentation is a must

Good troubleshooting instincts and the ability to quickly triage/perform root-cause analysis

The desire and capability to see a problem through to completion

The ability to quickly acquire new skills and thrive in a team-based environment

Agility in an environment that requires rapid iteration and pivoting

A professional and courteous attitude

Being willing to periodically travel as required

Availability for off hours/on-call support; required
