Job Description - Tax Manager

Prepares complex business and individual income tax returns.

Understands the public accounting profession and its relationship to the public and other third parties.

Competently handles challenging tax and accounting matters; recognizes significant tax and accounting issues in clients’ operations and develops recommendations for solutions.

Performs detailed reviews of complex tax returns prepared by other professional staff including: federal and multi-state S corporations, partnerships, high net-worth individuals, trust & estates and foundations.

Participates in the training and supervision of less experience staff; coaching and mentoring staff and providing timely, honest, objective feedback.

Pursues a continuing program of self-development in technical accounting, auditing tax, and business management skills.

Assumes a leadership role and responsibilities in community and business organizations.
Participates in community activities and events sponsored by the Firm.

Expands networking opportunities with bankers, brokers, lawyers, and business organizations.

Bachelors or Master’s degree in accounting.

6 to 10 years’ experience in public accounting or equivalent experience; demonstrating a proven progression in tax return complexity and scope.

Have a current and valid certified public accountant’s license.

Well rounded knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and establish priorities.Tax
