Job Description

Senior Systems Engineer

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of a Windows based computing environment including applications, operating system, virtualization platform, systems hardware, and storage infrastructure supporting a 24x7 mission-critical environment.

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for both hosted services as well as on-premises client systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

10+ years of windows systems administration experience, with a minimum of five (5) years working in a senior engineering role.

Additional years of senior systems administration experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

Ability to architect systems using available redundancy techniques to maximize fault-tolerance.

Ability to accurately define hardware and software requirements for capacity management and reliable application performance.

Ability to design a system for business continuity from granular file level recovery and application protection to full scale disaster recovery. Experience using Veeam Cloud
Provider technologies preferred.

Microsoft technologies

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Server Infrastructure certification preferred – private cloud or messaging is an additional plus.

Experience in deployment and management of complex Active Directory (AD) and Exchange environments.

Must have working knowledge of PowerShell and VBScript.

Experience in designing and implementing security controls using native Windows tools and third-party solutions.

Strong knowledge of group policy design and troubleshooting.

Strong working knowledge in managing large Remote Desktop Services farms for delivery desktop and applications through VDI.
VMware

Experience managing and upgrading multi-site (DR and DRaaS) vSphere environments that include many dependencies including backup/replication and network virtualization requirements.

Experience with implementation and support of VMware Horizon View with both linked-clone and RDS implementations in a multi-tenant environment is preferred.

At least one VMware Certified Professional or higher (DCV, NV, CMA, DT) certification required.

Extensive experience in virtualization technology using VMware vSphere, Horizon View, NSX and vRealize.

Customization of vROPS dashboards and vRealize automation experience a plus.
Airwatch experience a plus.

Strong understanding TCP/IP, SNMP, SMTP, SSL, SSH, DNS, DHCP, Kerberos, LDAP and SAMBA.

Cisco Data Center (UCS) certification is plus.

Experience with sizing and deploying hyper-converged solutions (VxRail, HyperFlex, Nutanix).

Experience in deploying, managing, and upgrading VCE Vblock or similar infrastructure technology (Cisco UCS, VMware, EMC SAN and storage).

Fundamental understanding of storage technologies as they relate to server IO requirements.

Working knowledge of NAS and lower end storage arrays.

knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Azure cloud services.

Experience with migrating to and integrating Office 365 with on-premises AD and Exchange implementations.

Knowledge of Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, VMware vCloud Air, and Azure a plus.

Experience with the ForcePoint product suite for Web, Email, and Endpoint security.
Knowledgeable of systems auditing implementation and controls. SOX and PCI compliance experience a plus.

Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks (ITIL, ISO, COBIT) a plus.
