The Business Technology Associate will leverage IT-approved technology tools (SQL, VBA, BIRT Eclipse, BO Webi) to access internal data platforms and/or hosted outsourced platforms for providing ad-hoc data requests, business analysis, and repeatable reports and interfaces.

To be successful in this position, a candidate must have strong technology skills and operational knowledge to effectively convey information to technical and non-technical audiences.

The ideal candidate is hands-on and problem-solves, manages multiple priorities, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.

The position presents an opportunity to combine one's business intelligence skillset with knowledge of investment management.

Specific Responsibilities Include

Apply developed technology skills and operational knowledge to analyze and troubleshoot system, data, or procedural issues.

Provide technology solutions within the Operations Department for issues that fall outside of the scope or readiness of Information Technology.

These solutions often involve combining VBA Excel and a thorough knowledge of our internal DB's to provide various Analytical data used for purposes metrics, analyzers, and reconciliations.

Utilize the Eclipse BIRT Report Designer, develop and maintain internal reports for the
Operations Performance Team accessing an externally hosted application (BiSam).

Gather business requirements, perform data and systems analysis, and prepare documentation for new features and enhancements for internal projects as required.

Provide input and clarity on operational and data issues to assist with the prioritization of projects and development within Information Technology.

Understand business workflows and detailed system data to respond to immediate and urgent ad-hoc data requests.

Skills & Experience Required

Bachelor's degree; ideally, in business with a specialization in information technology

At least 10 years' experience in Operations or Information Technology at an Investment
Management firm with direct experience using, supporting or developing large scale systems.

Must have experience writing SQL, and at a minimum, experience writing and calling (or executing): stored procedures; dynamic SQL commands; data manipulation commands; temp tables, derived tables, and common table expressions.

Must have Excel-based VBA experience used to design, analyze, and deploy programs.

Basic knowledge of valuations, analytics, and transactions associated with fixed income, derivatives and equity securities.

Strict attention to detail with ability to prioritize issues appropriately.

Demonstrated ability to properly convey (written and verbal) technical and operational information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative and critically analyze processes and procedures in a push toward constant improvement.

Participate in weekly release cycle and status reviews with the IT Department.

Prior experience using Blackrock Aladdin, Client Markit Wall Street Office, and PAM
Accounting Software, BiSAM B-One are all a plus.

Experience building reports using BIRT Eclipse is a plus.
