Senior Tax Accountant
Senior International Tax Accountant Summary
Broadly, this position will assist the Intn’l Tax Managers in facilitating global tax withholding and reporting compliance on the entity and individual tax level.
There is a need for administrative and technical assistance, as well as documentation of current procedures and recommendations for future improvements to the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate home and host tax compliance in 9 countries on both the individual and entity level
Work closely with Payroll to determine withholding obligations of foreign nationals and expatriates and finalize the monthly expatriate payroll, including review of additional payments, coordination of monthly withholding, tax set-up of new and returning assignees
Partner with the Accounting Department and/or external vendors to compile and verify required data for numerous recurring year end global compensation reporting, i.e. Fringe
Benefits Tax, PAYE Settlement Filings, etc.
Responsible for the preparation of the Form W-2 compensation breakdown and the delivery of United States Form W-2’s.
Liaise with foreign offices, vendors, internal customers and assignees on various expatriate and entity tax matters
Preparation of Cost Estimates, Stay at Home versus While on Assignment Tax Estimates,
Gross-up Calculations
Assist various departments in determining the most cost effective way to transfer an employee overseas
Act as a backup to Intn’l Assignment & Tax Manager in conducting pre-assignment consultations.
Keeps abreast of current tax laws and seeks counsel for global tax laws impacting global relocation and entity filings.
Assist in driving process design and improvements for global compensation and tax reporting
Facilitate projects assessing adequacy of operational controls, identifying efficiency and effectiveness opportunities to enhance business compliance and controllership.
Assist with the preparation of IRS and State correspondences in response to Notices issued to associates, partners and Payroll
In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining Firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees.
This includes complying with the Firm’s information security policies, protecting Firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to managemen
Senior International Tax Accountant Qualifications
An interest in international tax law
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and build partnerships with different departments, business partners and management.
Demonstrated project management, project leadership and resource management
Must be detail oriented with ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.
Problem solving and solutions development skills including the ability to proactively avoid problems that may develop with customer
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
Senior International Tax Accountant Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree, CPA a plus
3-5 years of international and/or expatriate tax experience required. Expatriate tax administration experience a plus.
Experience with global payrolls, expatriate compensation reporting, foreign entity filings etc. desirable.
Strong understanding of various foreign taxation systems. Knowledge of law firm partners abroad and entity taxation a plus.
Experience with dealing with tax authorities.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus
