Job Description
Our client is a mid-sized international Financial services institution located in Mid-Town Manhattan.
They are currently seeking an application support manager to join their platform services team that supports ServiceNow, SharePoint, and their IAM solutions.
Responsibilities:
Lead a small team (1 report) and take ownership of escalated operational issues and perform both short-term resolution, and development of preventive measures for the longer term
Responsible for application flow, including configuration, scheduling control and scripting; knowledge of shell scripting, HTML and SQL is an advantage.
Proactively monitor system health and respond to alerts to provide high availability and performance of the application set including automation of healtchecks
Responsible for Problem, Change, Incident Management
Find opportunities to automate application/system monitoring
Offer consultancy and hands-on support for the transition of new services into the production environment
Ensure support documentation is accurate and maintained
Conduct capacity planning and management review on the application set.
Contribute and deliver on operational improvement projects.
Identify potential threats and mitigate risks
Act as a Client of production services and ensure change procedures are followed
Be available for weekend work as needed
Requirements:
At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in an application support role within a corporate environment (preferably exposure to banking or financial institution with knowledge of research publications and/or advisory businesses) comprising of
3+ years' experience supporting of mission critical systems in a high pressure environment
2+ years' experience in SQL and relational databases
1 + years' experience of Lead or hand on management experience
Experience in at least one or more of the following technologies, including scripting
A degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant computer science discipline
Enjoys a fast paced work environment and working with offshore counterparts
A quick-thinking problem solver, able to assimilate data rapidly in order to present solutions to day-to-day incidents
Able to view current processes and procedures as opportunities for enhancement, tuning and improvement
Be able to investigate issues independently and propose solutions: a self-starter that can work well both independently and as part of a team.

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to effectively tailor communications to a diverse range of business and technical stakeholder groups.
Able to manage own work and mentor junior staff in technical areas
