Lead Database Administrator

$130,000 - $140,000/year

Chanhassen, MN

Position Summary: The Lead Database Administrator will be responsible working with a team of DBA's and application developers to bring industry best practices to database design, SQL tuning, and maintenance to ensure that multiple database instances both on premises and in the Azure Cloud are fully functional 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This role will also be responsible for partnering with Infrastructure/Systems teams to create and implement a strategy for application full stack ownership via a DevOps approach along with understanding and adhering to security guidelines.

Position Overview:

Architect, design, implementation and management of SQL Servers and other NoSQL database solutions

Designs and implements databases using highly availability patterns for scalability and stability

Identifies and documents best practices to implement and manage database Instances

Participates and resolves database performance issues

Manages, monitors and alerts on system performance of database instances using tools such as Redgate

Defines and refines the database strategies related to structured and unstructured data

Works with IT and business partners to define use cases for database/data technologies

Works with and mentors offshore DBA partners to proactively manage and monitor databases

Provides technical guidance to offshore/contractor team along with local team members as the Technical lead

Develops and maintains technologies to transform data to meet business needs

Position Requirements:

10+ years of Microsoft SQL experience

5+ years of Data Architecture/Modeling experience

3+ years of SQL/Infrastructure Automation experience

2+ years of NoSQL experience

Ability to design end to end data solutions

Ability to work as a collaborative team, mentoring and training application developers, DBA's and other staff on the various tools and techniques to build a complete database solution

Understanding of the complexities of a Modern Data Architecture

Azure SQL Database/Data Warehouse experience is preferred, but not required
