Job Description
Position Summary: Responsible for processing all release of information (ROI) specifically medical record requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
A minimum of an Associates’ Degree in healthcare related discipline desired
Two years prior work in the medical, billing, or insurance office
Knowledge, experience and/or training in accurate data entry, office equipment and procedures
Ability to research claim issues quickly and accurately
Demonstrates problem-solving skills by thoroughly understanding Plan requirements in order to make decisions regarding claim processing
Qualifications:
Administrative experience in an office setting: Previous release of information, medical records, or other related experience in a healthcare environment is preferred
Proven customer experience and/or training
Ability to effectively use computer software and technology mainly Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to read and comprehend simple, healthcare terminology
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Effective organizational skills a must
Ability to work professionally, effectively, and efficiently in a team environment with customers, management and co-workers
Must be able to multitask effectively
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and timely data entry of incoming records and appeals
Coordinate the mailing of correspondence (sample, letters, review findings, etc.) pertinent to review activities
Completes certified mailing documents and maintains such documents for retrieval
Review correspondence received and identifies the type of document being submitted for action
Dispositions correspondence for either data entry, Operations Unit Manager review, or processing
Identifies late appeal request, indicates status on correspondence, and submits to
Operations Unit Manager for review and disposition
Generate daily Tracking Reports for Operation Unit Manager review
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to file and retrieve hard copy and electronic documents (letters, worksheets, charts, etc.)
Prepares documents for scanning
Resolves problems resulting from Reviewer’s inability to locate documents
Audits randomly selected cases to ensure quality processing
Documents phone calls and follows up on issues if needed
Prepares a response to P993 Reports for Operations Unit Manager review
Demonstrates knowledge of data reports (i.e. Open, Closed, Aging) and Account Reports
Be able to write up critique and responses to issues raised by clients within their account written and verbally
