Job Description

STORAGE ENGINEER - NETAPP

A growing professional services organization is seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to join their team.

The Storage Engineer will insure that the storage, server and data center infrastructure systems and applications are secure, available and functioning at the highest levels and will be responsible for storage infrastructure including components, products, and configuration management tools.

The Storage Engineer should be experienced with NetApp and will be comfortable to a blend of engineering and design/architecture for the global company.

Excellent communication skills are required.

Responsibilities:

Support and maintain highly available Blade & storage services, backup/restores and related systems.

Handle the diagnosis of complex virtual & storage problems including provisioning infrastructure, performance management, capacity/ growth planning and technical architecture

Diagnose issues and problems bridging various other layers and their interactions with storage, including virtualization, operating systems and applications.

Perform system maintenance in accordance with established schedules and best practices.

Install, update and maintain supported systems as necessary.

Manage or collaborate on projects improving, securing deploying server and storage systems.

Conduct complex error testing and integration testing to qualify hardware components and hardware systems.

Work as needed when required to troubleshoot, perform maintenance activities, system upgrades or data migrations

Requirements:

Bachelor degree required or equivalent experience

5+ years of professional experience as a Storage Engineer

NetApp deployments builds experience

Cisco MDS (or other SAN fabrics)

Nimble

Server hardware e.g. Client/AMD, IBM, Client, Sun, mainframes

Operating system e.g. Windows, UNIX/LINUX, OpenVMS, z/OS, VM, VSE, BS2000

Layered system software like transaction monitors, application servers, web servers, etc.

Data storage and backup concepts e.g. SAN, NAS, Legato Networker, Symantec, mainframe backup utilities

Understanding of VMWare, AWS, Azure technologies

Scripting experience is very helpful, i.e. Powershell, NetApp WFA, etc.

File system/dataset concepts; user/security concepts; process/task concepts and job control

Administration/management tools; scripting/command languages; programming languages

Proficiency in MS Office, development tools, databases, or applications as appropriate.

Strong analytical, research, systemic thinking, and problem-solving skills

Strong organizational skills and able to effectively manage simultaneous priorities

Effective relationship-building and interpersonal skills; track record of strong leadership.

Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation)

Maintains high quality standards and attention to detail in work product

Ability to perform in a self-directed manner, and to multi-task.

Aptitude to learn quickly and to rapidly apply feedback.
