PERFORMANCE ENGINEER

Plano, TX

6+ Month Contract to Hire

ICS is hiring a Performance Engineer for our Client in the Plano, TX area! This person will be a part of a team of 15 DevOps team members and Engineers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Perform application and network performance monitoring and performance test analysis

Monitor and analyze on premise, hybrid, and cloud host applications

Apply experience with system analysis, development, systems integration, and testing of Web-based and client server applications

Display experience in cloud and open source technology

Carry out performance engineering in a Java environment

Work with Unix/Linux servers

Perform functional duries in the field of cloud performance

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE YOU NEED:

BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience

6+ years experience in web application development

5+ years in web application performance engineering preferably hosted in an AWS environment

Knowledge of the use of Web Performance and Profiling tools

Demonstrated familiarity with current Software Engineering trends & Cloud Technologies

Experience in building highly scalable application deployment architecture in AWS EC2

Experience in Application Performance Management, analysis and troubleshooting in a SaaS environment

Proven ability to code review and identify bad code smells, particularly from a performance standpoint

Experience with Java profiling, algorithm optimization, and garbage collection tuning

Deep understanding of Linux systems and how to tune them for performance

Design & configure performance metrics and monitoring with meaningful and actionable alerts

Ability to identify and resolve system bottlenecks by interpreting technical data

Ability to develop real-time application dashboards showing overall system health, reliability and performance

Superior understanding of throughput, latency, client and server resource utilization, multi-threading, caching and overall memory management

Experience with RedHat or Amazon Linux, Apache, HTML5, Angular/React JS, VMWare, JBoss, Tomcat,
Datastax Cassandra, BigData, MySQL and Oracle

Experience with AWS Stack (ELBs, EC2, S3, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudFront, EBS, RDS, IAM, OpsWorks,
DirectConnect, etc.)

Experience with Monitoring using: Splunk, AppDynamics, AWS tools

Experience with Deployment Automation using: Chef, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifcatory, Perforce, Maven, Docker, Ruby, Perl

Track record of strong technical acumen, courage for rapid decision-making, and bias for action
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively present information to varied technical audiences.

Must have the ability to expand functional skills and adapt to new capabilities based on the needs of the client
