Job Description

Key responsibilities:

Install, configure and support complex, mission-critical database systems

Provide On-call support in a 24x7/365 operational environment

Manage Oracle and PostgreSQL production databases .

Monitor database and host alert and performance metrics.

Perform administration duties at database and host level.

Install new software releases, OS system upgrades, evaluate and install patches

Resolve database and OS software related problems

Develop and maintain automation, maintenance and backup scripts

Enforce security measures to protect company data

How We Work:

We are responsible for building, deploying, and patching our various environments on a regular basis.

We work very closely with our NOC on ways to improve alerting efficiencies and to develop documentation on how to properly troubleshoot incidents.

We are a strong team-oriented group that relies on daily Scrums to help prioritize tickets in JIRA.

Our code is located on internal GitHub: Enterprise; we follow Git workflows with pull request code reviews.

We work closely with development teams to build and improve automation code (i.e. Ansible and Terraform), monitoring, alerting, documentation, logging, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Key capabilities:

8+ years’ experience in the administration of OLTP databases, Oracle and PostgreSQL

Experience in the installation, upgrading and patching Oracle and Postgres database software.

Experience using tools such as AWR, ASH, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Experience in data replication solutions, Oracle DG, PostgreSQL replication and Golden Gate

Experience in Backup and Recovery Oracle databases using RMAN

Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Hive or other similar NoSQL platforms, and open source technologies Spark and Kafka

Experience using Version Control to manage code revisions, mainly Git (GitHub).

Experience automating the creation of computing environments using technologies such as Ansible, Chef,
Teraform, Kubernetes and/or Swarm.

Experience in the administration of Linux/Unix operating systems.

Experience in scripting languages, including BASH, Python, or Ruby.

Knowledge of tools for monitoring, aggregated logging, and metrics collection such as Nagios, Splunk, Telegraf and Grafana.

Good understanding of networking and networking protocols, including the use of routers, switches,
firewalls and load balancers

6+ years’ experience in the administration of OLTP(High Transaction Volume) systems.

4+ years of system administration experience.
